My kids don’t really care about stars yet, although my almost 5yo is getting there! But I can’t wait until I can try to inspire their interest in astronomy and plan trips around meteor showers and solar eclipses. I feel lucky that I now live in a place where on good nights, I can make out the Milky Way in the night sky right from our backyard. Growing up in DC, we had a pinkish sky with maybe half a dozen visible stars on a good night.
For The Expedition, I rounded up a few of the best spots in the country for seeing constellations and other astronomical phenomena with kids (or without). Check out the story here—Happy stargazing!
