Last week, on January 21, the Bureau of Land Management approved the controversial Northern Corridor Highway project, providing temporary protection for Moe’s Valley, a historic bouldering area with over 430 problems in Southern Utah. The decision came following a public comment period.
But conservationists concerned about the environmental impacts of this 4.25-mile roadway filed a lawsuit against the BLM and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on February 4 to halt the project. The lawsuit, which calls the recent Northern Corridor Highway approval “illegal,” was filed by six Utah organizations, including Conserve Southwest Utah, Conservation Lands Foundation, Center for Biological Diversity, Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, The Wilderness Society, and WildEarth Guardians.
